The visitors had a glimpse of shearing from the past and shearing of the present with local Don Fish giving shearing demonstrations throughout the day. Just outside the door the wool was being spun, so people got the feel of one way the wool is processed.

The New Norfolk Lions Club train was flat out all day shuttling people back and forth from the Museum to the Community Hall where stalls were set up selling a variety of jams, cakes, and biscuits along with locally made sauces and relishes. Locally made Goat’s Milk Soaps and Lotions also Woolen Jodhpurs along with Woodcrafts, Joyland Party Balloons, The Oatlands Candy Store, plus jewellery and embroidery stalls provided a real shopping experience. Devonshire Teas in the supper room proved very popular all day.

Local author Rachael Treasure was working the sheep dogs along with displaying the T & T Fast Grass fodder for stock feed.

Alec Dean did the hard yakka of the day putting up three panels of post and rail fencing while nearby Shirley Fish and Eleanor Bjorksten were also hard at work constructing a permanent freestone wall. This is an ongoing project and will be finished in the near future with museum volunteers and Shirley’s guidance.

While this was going on the billy tea and hot damper was a great favourite with the onlookers.

Youngsters ( and some a bit older) were well provided for with a jumping castle and cricket with Andrew Dean from the Bridgewater P.C.Y.C. Pony rides were also very popular.

The Museum and Community Shed displays were open and were the subject of much reminiscence and many “I remember————-“stories were exchanged.

The BBQ team was kept busy serving Egg and bacon rolls, Roast meat rolls, and Hamburgers and Sausages all day. Next door the freshly made sandwiches and home made pies and doughnuts were a great hit. The local fire brigade provided a coldie to wash it all down.

An Easter raffle proved very popular with several baskets of Easter goodies for prizes.
Prizewinners were Adrian Dare, Elaine Midson, Jenny Denholm, Doreen Dare, Isla Bellette, Pam Montgomery, Vonnie Bourke, and Robert Williams.

The Museum volunteers would like to say a very sincere “Thank you “to everyone who helped and everyone who attended for making the day such a success. It is envisaged that this will be an annual held event on the second weekend in March every year.
